Board Ready Program.

Each program is internationally available and delivered via live group sessions, workbooks, video masterclasses, our resources portal and alumni support network.

What past participants say?

“I found everything that I was looking for in the masterclasses. Also, the support I received was very supporting and encouraging.

As a young person, Future Directors was instrumental in helping me gain further confidence by helping identify what skills and strengths I can bring to a board.”

— Parrys Raines
Senior Consultant, Climate Change and Sustainability Services at EY · Founder of Climate Girl · Non Executive Director at Future Business Council

“Put simply, this program is the reason I have a boardroom career. It helped me understand my unique value and gave me the courage to seek (and achieve) my first non-executive board role at the age of 29.

As a media professional, I wasn’t sure I “fit the mould” or had anything to offer. But Paul helped me see the opposite was true and now I’m deputy chair of a major NFP.”

— Hannah Stenning
Head of Video at News Corp · Chair of Delta Society Australia Ltd

“With a philosophy and culture committed to lining up the next generation of young directors and to change the landscape of boardrooms so that they are more gender, culture and age diverse, Future Directors was the perfect fit.

On the course, I got everything I was hoping for. I met a diverse range of individuals, each with their own unique skill sets and determinations.”

— Alan Jones
Entrepreneur in Residence at Remarkable Tech · General Partner at M8 Ventures · Director of Catalysr

“I would like to say thank you again for starting the initiative and program.

Future Directors showed me that there were areas where I could get involved and importantly gave me the impetus to approach them.”

— Jeremy Urbach
Director & Co-Founder of Jameson Capital Holdings · Treasurer and State Council Member of Motor Neuron Disease Association of Victoria

“I cannot say how much I have enjoyed the program – aside from the excellent skills development and yes – fun, it has given me so much more confidence in my strengths.”

Jennifer Nobbs
Freelance consultant – health and government policy and strategy · Ex-Non Executive Director of Central Coast Primary Care

“Paul is an exceedingly passionate advocate for diversity on boards and leadership teams. His passion stems from the belief that a lack of diversity stifles creative innovation, new world problems are not usually solved by old world solutions.

This program is a great step to accelerating that journey into the boardroom.”

Gaya Byrne
Senior Product Manager at Telstra · Non Executive Director of The Royal Women’s Hospital Foundation

“My expectations were exceeded. The program had the right mix of detail required for strong learners, however did not get bogged down in details that can/should be researched offline.

The guest mentors were excellent, well credentialed and good communicators. They took the course from theory towards practice. “

Matt Drum
Managing Director of
Ndevr Environmental Pty Ltd

The program is a great complement to the AICD course (which is more governance focused). It really suppose you in crystallizing your value proposition, in getting strategic about the types of boards for your potential portfolio and the wider skillset and mindset necessary to truly make a positive impact.”

Co-Founder and Managing Director of Trusted Negotiator · Board Director and Deputy Chair of Conscious Capitalism Australia & New Zealand

FAQs by aspiring Non Executive Directors

Am I too inexperienced to be a board director?

It’s better to know now what you need to know than wait until you think you’re ready. Let our experts show you the tools, knowledge and frameworks to give you the confidence to move forward, chances are you already have more than you think! The world needs you to step up now and be that leader… right where you are. We have proof that you are at the perfect point in your life to start. Our youngest graduate was 21 and she’s now on two boards at the age of 22 but we also help people of all skills, ages and experiences!

Do I have the time to be a board director?

You can create time when something is important. All boards are different but allow 10-30 hours per month.

What boards are looking for?

It’s not all MBA grads, lawyers and accountants anymore. You have unique strengths, skills and value that sets you apart from others. Not all boards need the same things so with our help, we will get you ‘pitch ready’ for the boardroom of your choice.

Where do I even begin getting a role on a board?

That’s where we come in! It’s called the CONNECT Method and we will help you every step of the way.

What’s the right board for me?

As we get to know you and your talents more, we can help point you in the right direction. We are confident you will find a board where you can thrive.

People say it’s still about who you know… I don’t know anyone!

What and who you know will always important. But, we also know it’s WHO KNOWS YOU that is the key to kickstarting a board career. We help you get ready and plug into networks that will get you in front of the right people so you can make those crucial connections.

How do you differ from everyone else, including the formal national institutes of directors?

This program is designed to help you secure your ideal values-aligned board role, as well as teach you the basics of governance. It will give you a clear roadmap, the tools, confidence and the right connections to find the ideal board role for you, and then build your influence and impact once you get the right seat and the right table.

In fact, our program is a perfect compliment to technical (yet VERY expensive) governance courses and it’s often said that it’s best to do ours first as it will ensure you know what you want, when you want it and why, before you invest even more money on their courses

Do you think my employer will pay for me to attend?

Yes. The majority of employers have a training and development budget that can be used for external courses. About 40% of our graduates have been employer-sponsored. The likes of big banks, the Big 4 consultants, government, universities plus start-ups, charities and small businesses have all seen the value for their people and their business.

The best employers will empower your development and getting on a board can be hugely significant for not just you, but the company you work for. We believe that the skills and knowledge you will learn will benefit your paymasters.

Are you ready to increase your influence, create greater impact and build your reputation from your value-aligned board roles?
